Professor Feinman earned his B.A. summa
cum laude in 1972 at American University and his J.D. cum laude in 1975 at the University of Chicago Law School, where he
was comment editor of the law review and a member of the Order of the Coif. He
is a member of the New Jersey Bar. Professor Feinman taught at the University
of Miami School of Law and practiced law in Philadelphia before joining the Rutgers School of Law–Camden faculty. He has also taught at Northwestern University and universities
in Austria and Taiwan. His many publications include the books: Delay, Deny, Defend: Why Insurance Companies
Don't Pay Claims and What You Can Do About It;
Un-Making Law: The
Conservative Campaign to Roll Back the Common Law;
Law 101: Everything You
Need to Know about the American Legal System; 1001 Legal Words You Need to
Know; Professional Liability to Third Parties;
and Economic Negligence; in addition to more than 50 scholarly articles. Professor Feinman has
served as chair of the Association of American Law Schools Section on Contracts
and Section on Teaching Methods. He is a member of the American Law Institute.
He has been recognized for his teaching by receiving the Warren I. Susman Award
for Excellence in Teaching, the Lindback Foundation Award for Distinguished
Teaching, and the Provost's Award for Teaching Excellence.
