Alison Nissen

Director of Academic Success Program and Clinical Associate Professor. Professor Nissen earned her B.A. with high honors from the College of William and Mary in 1987 and her J.D. with honors from Rutgers School of Law-Camden in 1991. Professor Nissen directs the Academic Success Program, providing law students with opportunities to improve their academic performance in law school through formal courses, workshops, and individual conferences. Professor Nissen also coordinates and directs the law school's bar examination preparation programs. She co-teaches a bar preparation course for third-year students. In January 2009, Professor Nissen presented "Course Outlines: What You See Is Often What You Get" at the Academic Support and Teaching Methods Workshop at the AALS Annual Meeting in San Diego, California. She was invited to speak at the LSAC Academic Assistance Training Workshop in St. Louis, Missouri, in June 2009 on course outlining. Professor Nissen also teaches legal analysis, writing, and research (LAWR) courses, including LAWR II and Persuasion and Legal Writing. Before beginning her teaching career in the summer of 2000, Professor Nissen was an associate with the law firm of Capehart & Scatchard, Pennsylvania, specializing in legal research and writing and appellate practice.
