Carrier earned his B.A. summa cum laude in 1991 at Yale College and his
J.D. cum laude in 1995 at Michigan Law School, where he was book review editor of the Michigan Law Review. After law school, he clerked for
Judge John D. Butzner on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and
then worked for four years at Covington & Burling in Washington, D.C. He is
a member of the bars of the District of Columbia and Maryland.
Professor Carrier teaches and writes in the areas of
antitrust, intellectual property, and property law. He is the author of Innovation
for the 21st Century: Harnessing the Power of Intellectual Property and
Antitrust Law (Oxford University Press 2009, paperback 2011) and editor of Critical
Concepts in Intellectual Property Law: Competition (Edward Elgar Publishing
2010). He also has published more than 40 book chapters and law review
articles in journals including the Stanford
