Assistant Professor of Law. Margo Kaplan teaches courses on health law and policy and criminal
law. Her research explores legal limitations on intimate decisions,
particularly the use of criminal law in areas of health and sexuality.
She holds a joint appointment with the School of Law and the Department
of Public Policy and Administration. Prior to joining the Rutgers faculty, Professor Kaplan was a visiting assistant professor at Brooklyn Law School. Before that, she served as director
of planning and research for the Center for HIV Law and Policy, as well
as a staff attorney fellow for the American Civil Liberties Union. She
clerked for Judge Julio Fuentes of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the
Third Circuit and Judge John G. Koeltl of the U.S. District Court for
the Southern District of New York. Professor Kaplan graduated cum laude from New
York University School of Law and also received a master in public administration degree from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard
University.
