In addition to the required core courses, the Department of Molecular Biology and Biochemistry (MBB) offers two course options to students to fulfill the requirements for the major. Course option one comprises taking advanced electives and is intended to expose MBB students to different current topics in molecular biology and biochemistry. Course option two is for students interested in biophysical questions and research and comprises taking Physical Chemistry and Multivariable Calculus. Students completing course option two will also receive a minor in chemistry are encouraged to take the physical chemistry courses as they will fulfill the minor requirements. Course option two is intended to expose MBB students to different current topics in molecular biology and biochemistry.
Course Option One (13 credits)
Two 3-credit courses offered by the MBB department from the following list: 01:694:230; 01:694:390; 01:694:411; 01:694:412; 01:694:413; 01:694:420/421; 01:694:492

Because
the list of approved electives is changing, students should discuss their
elective options directly with their departmental faculty advisers and with the
MBB Undergraduate Director, Sam Gunderson. A list of currently approved

website. In addition to the undergraduate courses listed, advanced
students are encouraged to choose electives from the School of Graduate
Studies.
