Students who by the end of their junior year have earned 18 credits in sociology and have obtained a 3.5 grade-point average or better in these courses and a 3.0 cumulative grade-point average are eligible for the departmental honors program. Admission is competitive and by permission of the department. In their senior year, honors students take two semesters of honors research, which include participation in an honors seminar and the completion of a major research project. An oral presentation on their research is made to the department in the spring.
