General Track; 7-9 credits
This track is for students who, upon
graduation, seek immediate employment or plan to attend professional schools in
health-related fields. In addition to the required core courses, students must
take the following courses:
- Two elective
lecture courses at the 300-400 level in the life sciences area (equaling 6 or
more credits) or 1 elective lecture course at the 300-400 level in the life
sciences area (3 or more credits) and 2 semesters of Research in CBN (6
credits).
- One laboratory or research
course (1-3 credits) or 2 semesters of Research in CBN (6 credits).
Students can take a lecture
course with an associated laboratory component (3-4 credits) to satisfy both
requirements, or a stand-alone lecture plus a laboratory or research course.
Honors Track; 12 credits
This area of concentration is for students interested
in research who, upon graduation, plan to attend graduate school or
professional schools in health-related fields. A student must qualify for
admission into the honors track. See the
departmental honors program page in this catalog for student
qualifications. In addition to the required core courses, students must complete
the following courses, produce a written research thesis and an oral thesis
presentation:
- One elective lecture course
at the 300-400 level in the life sciences area or research in cell biology and
neuroscience 01:146:307 or 01:146:308 (3 or more credits).
