As a clinical associate professor of law and director of the Academic
Success Program, Alison Nissen provides law students with opportunities
to improve their academic performance through formal courses, workshops,
and individual conferences. She designed and co-teaches the law
school's for-credit bar
examination preparation programs. Professor Nissen has presented at
various academic success workshops and conferences, as well as at the
AALS annual meeting. Her scholarship focuses on the issues facing
veteran and military law students.
Prior to joining Rutgers in 2007, Professor Nissen was the codirector of the Academic Support Program at Widener
University School of Law-Wilmington and a legal methods professor
where she taught various legal methods and skills courses. Prior to
joining Widener, she specialized in legal research, writing, and
appellate work for a private law firm. She received her B.A. in
psychology from the College of William and Mary and her J.D. with honors
from Rutgers School of Law-Camden. Professor Nissen has recently presented and
written on the topic of veteran and military law students.
