Learning Goals
Minors will be introduced to the cultural heritage of East Asia (China, Japan, and Korea) through a wide and coherent curriculum, which includes courses in the following humanities and social science disciplines: literature, visual culture, history, religion, language, and linguistics. Minors will learn critical skills in analyzing and interpreting literary, historical, and cultural materials appropriate to the student's area of specialization. Students will be able to relate relevant issues to other areas in the humanities.
Requirements
The minor program in Asian studies
consists of six courses (of 3 credits or more) distributed as follows:
- Two courses in Asian studies, chosen from East Asian Civilizations: Traditional Era (01:098:241), East Asian Civilizations: Modern Era (01:098:242) or Global East Asia (01:098:250)
- Four elective courses in Asian
studies, at least three of which must be offered in subject codes 098, 165, 565, or 574, and may include language courses above the 100 level
