The life sciences core curriculum is a set of courses required for all majors in the Division of Life Sciences listed here except exercise science and sport management. Please see those entries for their requirements. The core includes a series of introductory- and intermediate-level courses in the physical and life sciences forming a foundation of knowledge necessary to understand modern biology and to prepare for the more advanced courses required for each major. **Basic Statistics for Research (01:960:401, 3 credits), Basic Probability and Statistics (01:960:379, 3 credits), or Statistics I and II (01:960:211 and 212) may be substituted for the second semester of Calculus.

**01:750:193-194 (4,4) or 01:750:201-202 (5,5) may be substituted for 01:750:203-204 (3,3) plus 01:750:205-206 (1,1).
