Students in this degree program must be admitted to the major as well as Rutgers School of Arts and Sciences. There is no deadline for admission to the major, but students should apply as soon as possible. Students may take individual courses, or complete a minor offered by the school, without being admitted.
Admission involves completing the application, writing a one-page application letter explaining why the applicant wishes to pursue a labor studies and employment relations major, having earned a 2.0 grade-point average or better in college work taken to date, and having demonstrated an adequate academic record in the introduction to labor studies course or the work, society and the quality of life course.
