01:351:209 Introduction to Multimedia Composition (3) Introduction to composition across digital media platforms, with attention to the conceptual challenges it poses. Individual digital media projects, blog posts, and group exercises to provide experience composing and sharing works that are both thought provoking and entertaining.
01:351:211,212 Introduction to Creative Writing (3,3) Practice in creative writing in various forms (fiction, poetry, drama, and essay); critical analysis of students' manuscripts in class and/or individual conferences.
01:351:220 Writing for Experimental Film (3) A hands-on film making experience focusing on writing and producing experimental film.
01:351:303 Screenwriting for Film (3) Practice in screenwriting for film focused on dramatic action, narrative structure, and character. Prerequisite: 01:351:211 or 212. 
01:351:304 Screenwriting for Television (3) Practice in screenwriting for television focused on dramatic action, scene structure, and character. Prerequisite: 01:351:211 or 212.
01:351:305 Creative Nonfiction (3) Investigation, through weekly reading and writing assignments, of creative nonfiction, emphasizing modes of first-person writing such as memoirs, travel narratives, and personal essays. Prerequisite: 01:351:211 or 212.
01:351:306 Form and Technique in Poetry (3) Prerequisite: One 200-level course in creative writing or permission of instructor. Pre- or corequisite: A literature course in poetry.
01:351:307 Form and Technique in Fiction (3) Prerequisite: One 200-level course in creative writing or permission of instructor. Pre- or corequisite: A literature course in fiction.
01:351:308 Form and Technique in Playwriting (3) Prerequisite: One 200-level course in creative writing or permission of instructor. Pre- or corequisite: A literature course in drama.
01:351:309 Digital Composition (3) Filmmaking as creative writing, including study of film language, grammar, and narrative structure, with focus on visual composition, placement of dialogue, and editing to assemble a story for the screen. Prerequisite: 01:355:101 or equivalent.
01:351:314 Documentary Filmmaking for Writers (3) This course focuses on the importance of storytelling in documentaries and teaches students about the various filmic techniques, elements, and choices needed to create their own successful short film. Prerequisite: 01:355:101 or equivalent.
01:351:405 Advanced Workshop: Multi-Genre (3) Advanced work in creative writing; criticism of manuscripts in individual conferences and/or class. Prerequisite: One 300-level course in creative writing or permission of instructor.
