Actuarial and statistical analysis is offered as a concentration within the
professional science master's program described under Business and Science 137. It introduces students to
the mathematical and statistical foundations of actuarial science and the
financial impact of risk and uncertainty. This concentration is offered at Rutgers University-New Brunswick and Rutgers University-Camden.Students
will learn to provide assessments of
financial security systems, with a focus on their complexity, their
mathematics, and their mechanisms. Students will also learn how to
evaluate the likelihood of events and quantify contingent outcomes to minimize
losses, emotional and financial, associated with undesirable events.
All students in the actuarial and statistical analysis
concentration must take one course from each of the areas listed below. Courses are available in either New Brunswick (NB) or Camden.
I. One basic probability course from the following
list:
01:640:478 Probability II (3) (NB)
16:960:580 Basic Probability (3) (NB)
16:960:582 Introduction to Methods and Theory of Probability (3) (NB)
56:645:582 Probability and Actuarial Mathematics (3) (Camden)
