Medical Device Design and Development
The graduate program in biomedical engineering, in collaboration with the Rutgers Medical Device Development Center (MDDC), has established a certificate program in medical device design and development. The curriculum is in conjunction with the master's of engineering degree program in biomedical engineering, and requires students to master: 1) core bioengineering fundamentals, 2) area-specific elective material, and 3) a specific futuristic medical device technology in the areas of 1) biomaterials and cell/tissue engineering, 2) medical devices and sensors, or 3) bioimaging and digital health, as part of a technical/business plan for their independent study requirement.
Students will have the unique opportunity to learn within a dynamic hub of faculty, staff, students, and industrial partners dedicated to medical device development from multiple angles: through proposed state-of-the-art prototyping facilities, through a wide network of industrial and business partners and contacts, and through its faculty and staff who are dedicated to assisting students and investigators in transforming their ideas into commercial realities.
