L. Rizvi's areas of interest include the assessment and treatment of borderline
personality disorder (BPD) and suicidal behaviors. She has particular expertise
in the teaching and practice of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Her current
research focuses on studying treatment sequences for suicidal college students,
treatment mechanisms in DBT, and brief video interventions based on DBT skills.
Dr. Rizvi has written and presented numerous theoretical and research papers on
BPD and DBT. Dr. Rizvi's classes include Learning Theory and
Cognitive Behavioral Foundations, Fundamentals of Dialectical
Behavior Therapy, and DBT in Practice. She is board certified
in cognitive behavioral therapy and DBT, is a founding member of the
International Association of DBT, and is an active member of the Association
for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies.
