Stephanie Lyon, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of clinical
practice in the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology and
codirector of the Cultivating Compassion Project/ADHD Clinic. Dr. Lyon
provides training and supervision in psychodynamic therapy and is conducting
clinical research focused on investigating the use of mentalization-based
therapy for children with ADHD and their families. Additional research
interests include the unique experiences of stress and trauma in the LGBTQ+
population and the impact of existential anxiety on adolescents and young
adults. Dr. Lyon earned her doctorate in clinical psychology from the Derner
School of Psychology at Adelphi University and completed her predoctoral
internship at NYU-Bellevue Hospital Center. Prior to entering the field of
psychology, Dr. Lyon taught elementary and middle school students and earned a
master's degree in education from New York University. She is licensed as a
clinical psychologist in New Jersey and New York and maintains a private
practice in South Orange, New Jersey. Dr. Lyon's clinical interests include
psychodynamic/relational theories, working with adolescents and young adults,
issues related to creativity, the LGBTQ+ population, and those struggling with
existential distress.
