All students, except visiting students, admitted to the Rutgers School of Public Health are assigned an academic adviser, to whom questions regarding academic program,
instruction, and related concerns should be addressed. Each student should meet with his or her adviser throughout the school year, but at least before the beginning of each semester to discuss and have his or her registration approved, as well as receive his or her registration pin number in order to be permitted to register.
Upon admission to the doctoral program, each student will be notified of his or her faculty adviser. A student may change advisers with the approval of the doctoral committee chair. It is the responsibility of the student to seek continued advisement in planning and implementing his or her program. The adviser will counsel the student on academic and research matters including developing a proposed curriculum, scheduling the doctoral qualifying exam, and proposing a thesis research committee.
Each student is
assigned a faculty adviser, to whom questions regarding academic program,
instruction, and related concerns should be addressed. If and when a student
believes that concerns have not been adequately addressed with the adviser, a
conference with the department chair is the appropriate next step.
