Student Health Insurance
It is university policy that each student enrolled in a program at the university on a full-time basis (9 credits or more) must have
adequate health insurance coverage. All full-time students
will be automatically billed for health insurance, and will be mailed
an information packet. Students may review the Plan benefits by going to http://www.university healthplans.com and click on Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Students will be asked to choose the university's insurance plan or waive participation if they have
current health insurance that meets minimum requirements
set by the university. Information about waiver forms is available at
campus offices or by visiting www.universityhealthplans.com
and selecting Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.
Students who do not respond by the waiver deadline will be automatically enrolled in the plan and will be responsible for paying the premium. To submit the online waiver, select "Waiver Form" on the left of the page. When your waiver form has been successfully submitted, you will see a waiver confirmation number and receive a confirmation email to your university email address shortly thereafter. If you do not receive the confirmation email, your form may not have been submitted and you should contact University Health Plans at 1-800-437-6448 for assistance.
Nonmatriculated and part-time students are welcome to purchase
insurance. The university's health provider is United Health Plan.
Students interested in purchasing health insurance should contact one
of the campus offices. The plan does offer coverage for one's spouse
and children at an additional cost.
