For students planning
careers in any field involving contact with Asian cultures, such as
business, law, teaching, or social work, the Department of History
offers an interdisciplinary minor in Asian Studies. Two areas of
concentration are possible: Near and Middle Eastern Studies and Far
Eastern Studies. Students must write a substantial research paper in a
course approved for the minor and complete the following credits:
1. 9 credits in history (concentration in Near and Middle Eastern history or Far Eastern history)*
2. 6 credits in language (modern Arabic, Hebrew, or Chinese)**
3. 6 credits in humanities and social sciences*
