Learning Goals and Minor Requirements


Learning Goals

Through successful completion of the minor in global politics, students will be able to:
  • evaluate major theoretical concepts and demonstrate specific knowledge of global issues, processes, trends, and/or policies;
  • demonstrate the skills necessary to make critical, informed analyses about global issues, processes, trends, and policies;
  • apply an interdisciplinary methodology to provide new insight into a global issue, process, trend, or policy; and
  • use diverse cultural frames of reference to appreciate cultural differences and tolerate cultural ambiguity.
Requirements (18 credits) 

Two core courses (6 credits):

21:790:321  World Politics   or   21:790:317  International Political Economy

Four courses (12 credits) from the following list or from those offered under the global politics concentration:

Study abroad is strongly encouraged. A student majoring in political science with a global politics minor may not count more than 6 credits of his or her major toward this minor.
