21:165:101,102 Elementary Chinese I,II (4,4) Introduction to sounds, structures, and the writing system of modern Chinese (Mandarin); practice in speaking and reading. For students with no knowledge of Chinese.

21:165:131,132 Intermediate Chinese I,II (3,3) Continuation of the study of the grammar, structures, and writing system of modern Chinese (Mandarin).  Continued practice in speaking and reading. 
Prerequisite: 21:165:102 or by permission of instructor.
