Entry Requirements for the Major


Nutritional sciences majors are required to take the following courses before acceptance into an option:

  • 01:160:161, 162, 171
  • 01:119:115-116, 117
  • 11:709:255

A grade-point average (GPA) greater than 2.5 is required in these courses for admission into the dietetics; nutrition; and nutrition, food, and business options. Students with a GPA less than 2.5 are eligible for admission into the community nutrition and food service administration options. Students must achieve grades of C or better in all required biological sciences, biochemistry, chemistry, and nutrition courses in order to enter advanced courses in nutritional sciences.


Admission to the Dietetics Option requires the following:

  • General Chemistry I, II and Lab (01:160:161; 01:160:162; 01:160:171)
  • Anatomy and Physiology I and II (01:119:127; 01:119:128)
  • Principles of Biology (01:119:103)
  • Nutrition and Health (11:709:255)
  • GPA of 2.5 or higher in the above courses
