Music video is a significant and compelling form of contemporary popular culture, one that
is widely circulated and complex. This course engages questions such as: How can we
engage critically with music video and its role in popular culture? What do contemporary
music videos have to tell us about patterns of cultural identity today? How are the
constructions of race, gender, ethnicity, and privilege put on display, reinforced, and
sometimes challenged?

This course is designed to give students the opportunity to collaborate in the planning and execution of upcoming arts, community, and cultural
video projects at Express Newark. Students will work within the production studio and on premises. Focus on gaining a fundamental understanding of testing, assessing, configuration, and assembly of
lighting, sound, camera, and broadcast equipment based on production meetings, standard operating procedures, notes, and call sheets.
Prerequisites: Requires completion of 21:089:204 and interview with M. Stachiw.

Students will learn the basic principles of fiction screenwriting including
