The African-American and African studies department offers an
interdisciplinary major that focuses on the historical, socioeconomic,
and cultural experiences of African Americans, and African people in
the worldwide diaspora. Courses also are designed to integrate
scholarship on gender, race, and class.
Thirty-nine credits are required for a major in the discipline, and 21 for a minor.
