Professor González earned his B.A. in political science with high
distinction from the University of Michigan and his J.D. from Yale Law School,
where he was a senior editor of the Yale Law Journal. After graduation
from law school, he earned an M.A. in political science from Stanford
University, and practiced litigation and employment law at Orrick,
Harrington and Sutcliffe in San Francisco. His current research
interests include statutory interpretation, direct democracy, popular
sovereignty, federalism, and methods for mediating conflict between
legal norms.
