The policy followed by the undergraduate schools at Rutgers University-New Brunswick for adding and dropping courses after a semester begins, is outlined below:
1. Students in New Brunswick may add classes from the first through the eighth day of classes of each semester. In special circumstances, students may add classes beyond this period only with permission of the dean of the school in which they are enrolled and the instructors of the classes involved.
2. Students in New Brunswick may drop courses from the first day through the seventh day of each semester, and no record is made on transcripts of such withdrawals.
3. Students who withdraw from classes after the end of the add/drop period and through the eighth week of the semester will have a W recorded on their transcript.
4. After the eighth week and through the 12th week, permission of the school dean is required for students wishing to withdraw from a class with a grade of W.
