Degree and Course Credits: Additional Information

For both the human resource management (HRM) major and minor, students can count HRM courses taken toward either the major or minor. The HRM minor requires 18 credits, including Introduction to HRM and 4 required core HRM courses (37:533). The HRM major requires 42-46 credits, including Introduction to HRM, 7 required core HRM courses, and 4 HRM elective courses (37:533). If a student is within the HRM Honors Program (37:533H), 8 HRM courses (37:533) are required. While some labor studies courses are incorporated into the HRM major and minor programs, there is a limit to the number that can be applied to each program. Information regarding all requirements can be found on the website smlr.rutgers.edu/hrmug.

The Department of Human Resource Management at the School of Management and Labor Relations will determine whether students have sufficiently completed the requirements necessary to receive the HRM minor or major at graduation. To facilitate this verification process, the School of Arts and Sciences (SAS) provides a list of students who have applied for graduation and declared the HRM minor or major. Certification for students from schools outside of SAS (i.e., Rutgers Business School: Undergraduate-New Brunswick, School of Management and Labor Relations, School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, School of Engineering, Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, Mason Gross School of the Arts, and Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy) is done separately.
