The entomology major
is directed at students who are interested in insects and related arthropods. Students can receive training in a variety of
subject areas including agricultural, urban, and forensic entomology. The entomology
major targets students that seek careers in agribusiness, government service,
agricultural education and extension, and public health or are preparing to be
owner/operators of a pest management enterprise. Students can tailor their
coursework to meet their specific interests by selecting coursework classes of
interest from several clusters of specific courses. The curriculum of this
major is expected to continue evolving as additional experience in the delivery
of the curriculum's content is gained, and new areas of emphasis are
identified.
In addition to offering a major in entomology, the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences offers a minor in entomology. See the Minors and Certificate Programs section at the end of this chapter.
