The Ed.M. program in social and philosophical foundations of
education assumes that students have an academic background relevant to
the disciplines of the program. Therefore, programs are designed
according to the academic background and objectives of the students.
Each student works with a faculty adviser in designing an individual
program.
Students must complete a minimum of 18 credits in the
program, including 9 credits in courses emphasizing the humanities and
social sciences. Individual programs may be constructed to enable
students to take either a selection of courses drawn from the several
disciplines of the program or to focus the course selection in a
specific discipline or area. In addition, students must select 6
credits outside the field of specialization and 6 credits of
electives.
