This 81-credit dual-degree program leads to a master of social work (M.S.W.) and a master of public policy (M.P.P.) degree in three years of full-time study. This is a savings of 27 credits (9 courses) compared to earning the 48-credit M.P.P. and the 60-credit M.S.W. degrees separately. The Bloustein School accepts four M.S.W. courses towards the M.P.P. degree and the School of social work accepts five M.P.P. courses towards the M.S.W. degree.
The M.S.W.-M.P.P. dual-degree program offers students the opportunity to develop advanced policy practice skills with a focus on social justice and social welfare policy. It complements and enhances both the Rutgers School of Social Work's M.S.W. program and the Bloustein School's M.P.P. program by contributing to specialized knowledge and practice skills and supporting expanded career opportunities for students.
