History and Overview
Rutgers is one of the nation's oldest, largest, and most distinguished institutions of higher learning in the nation. Founded in 1766, Rutgers is the eight-oldest university in America.
In 1950, the South Jersey Law School and the College of New Jersey became the Camden campus of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey.
