Students may choose to work toward a doctor of public health (Dr.P.H.) or doctor of philosophy (Ph.D.) degree.
Please note that the School of Public Health is suspending applications to the Dr.P.H. program for academic year 2018-2019. Some view the Dr.P.H. as a more practice-oriented degree and the Ph.D. as a more
research-oriented degree.
Candidates for the Ph.D. are expected to enroll full time and are required
to complete a minimum of 72 credits, participate in the Doctoral Colloquium each fall and spring semester,
fulfill a teaching experience, be immersed in research, pass written and oral qualifying examinations, as
well as complete and defend original dissertation research.
