The School of Communication and Information requires application to its majors separate from the one through which students apply to the university. Students already enrolled at a Rutgers four-year school as well as new transfer students may obtain the most up-to-date information about admission procedures from the school's website (http://comminfo.rutgers.edu).
Students' applications, transcripts, and written statements are reviewed by an admissions committee to determine suitability for admission. The faculty of the school is committed to admitting a highly motivated and diverse student body to the undergraduate programs.
A new interdisciplinary minor emphasizing competencies for the digital age is expected to be offered by 2010; this program will include coursework focused on understanding communication, information, and media technologies and processes, including social software and online collaborative environments. A process for declaring the minor will be announced in 2010. At the time of publication of this catalog, no other minors are offered by the school.
