Students are responsible for monitoring the accuracy of their registration throughout each semester. Details about registration may be found under Registration in the University Policies and Procedures section of the General Information chapter of this catalog.
Change of Courses. See the University Policies and Procedures section of the General Information chapter of this catalog for drop/add procedures. Students are responsible for knowing the dates as well as procedures for changing their registration in a given semester.
Full-Time Status. A full-time matriculated student may elect to take from 12 to 19 credits of coursework per semester. No exceptions to this general rule are made without the approval of both the student's academic adviser and the school's associate dean of Academic Programs and Services.
Part-Time Status. A continuing student may matriculate on a part-time basis with the approval of the school's associate dean of Academic Programs and Services and the academic adviser. A student applying to matriculate at the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences for the first time must apply as a full-time student.
Withdrawal. Students who wish to withdraw from the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences should consult their faculty adviser and one of the deans in the Office of Academic Programs. After the interviews, the student must fill out a withdrawal form stating the reasons for withdrawal and submit the withdrawal form to the Office of Academic Programs. Withdrawal by mail is possible only when illness precludes the possibility of interviews. Students who leave the school without officially withdrawing receive a grade of F in each incomplete course. Official withdrawal from the school with grades of W in all courses is not granted after the 12th week of the semester except in cases of extreme extenuating circumstances (such as serious illness) and with the approval of the school's Admissions and Scholastic Standing Committee. Students are responsible for knowing the procedures and deadlines for withdrawal from the school or from individual courses.
Reenrollment. Any matriculated student in good academic standing who withdraws or takes a leave of absence from the school may apply for reenrollment to the school's Admissions and Scholastic Standing Committee. Reenrollment application deadlines and reenrollment criteria can be accessed online at http://admissions.rutgers.edu/reenrollment. Readmission applications are available in the Office of Academic Programs, Martin Hall, Second Floor, and can also be downloaded from the school's website.
For the school's policy on reenrollment after dismissal for academic reasons, see section on Poor Academic Performance in the Scholastic Standing portion of this chapter.
Students who have graduated from the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences may apply for reenrollment for one year to take additional undergraduate courses as nonmatriculated students in order to enhance employment opportunities, to complete requirements for academic certification, or to take courses that are required for application to a graduate program. Courses taken as a nonmatriculated student subsequent to the completion of the bachelor's degree appear on a student's transcript, but do not change the student's graduation GPA. Graduates of the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences may also apply for reenrollment to complete a second bachelor's degree offered by the school.
