Carlos Ball received his B.A. summa cum laude from Tufts University,
his J.D. from Columbia Law School, and his LL.M. from Cambridge
University. He clerked for Chief Justice Paul Liacos of the
Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court and worked as a criminal defense
attorney for the Legal Aid Society in New York City. He joined the law
school in 2008 after teaching at the University of Illinois College of
Law and the Penn State School of Law. Professor Ball is a leading expert
on LGBT rights issues, having published several books and more than two
dozen articles on the subject. He teaches classes on the First
Amendment, Sexuality/Gender Identity and the Law, and Property.
