Students
seeking teacher certification in mathematics must complete the
requirements for the major in the mathematics department with one
adjustment to the Pure Mathematics Option, as well as satisfy other
requirements for certification. In comparison to the Pure Mathematics
Option, Introductory Theory of Functions of a Complex Variable (50:640:403) is replaced with a statistics
course and Discrete Mathematics (50:640:237). This certification also
requires admission to the teacher preparation program. Students should consult both their departmental adviser and the director of the Institute for Effective Education.
