When entering their final semester, candidates who anticipate faculty recommendation for conferral of the degree are required to follow the procedures listed below:
1. Ensure that all academic requirements have been or will be completed.
2. Ensure that related fees and any outstanding debts to the university have been or will be paid.
3. Submit a diploma application online at https://grad.admissions.rutgers.edu/Diploma/Login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2fDiploma. The degree cannot be conferred as scheduled and graduation will be delayed if this form is filed after the deadline. Students must refile this form if the deadline has passed.
4. Complete the Application for Admission to Candidacy for Degree. You can find this form at
https://graduateschool.camden.rutgers.edu/graduation. Upon completion, submit the form to your graduate director, so that the form may be reviewed and signed. The form will then be forwarded to the associate dean of the graduate school for final approval.
5. (For students who have completed a capstone, thesis, or dissertation.) Complete a title page with sign-off from all advisors and submit final project. This title page formally notes completion of the final project and also indicates that said student is ready to submit their final project. Submission is made either to the capstone repository or the ETD system depending on the final project type. More information can be found here:
https://graduateschool.camden.rutgers.edu/graduationA candidate who does not wish to attend commencement is asked to indicate that on the online graduate diploma application and to indicate if he or she will receive the diploma by mail or pick-up at the Office of the Registrar. As of the time of this catalog update in Spring 2024, diplomas are no longer being conferred at Commencement. All diplomas are either mailed to the student's on-file address, mailed to a new address, or picked up from the registrar's office on the Camden campus.
Diplomas are withheld from all students whose financial accounts or library records are not clear or who have other outstanding obligations to the university.
