Master of Science in Business of Fashion

The Future of Fashion: Training Chief Fashion Officers ®

The Rutgers Business School: Graduate Programs-Newark and New Brunswick's master of science in business of fashion (M.S.B.F.) is a cutting-edge program that prepares students for business careers in the fashion industry.

M.S.B.F. is a niche program that fills a void in the luxury and fashion industries. It provides a rigorous academic business school degree across all disciplines in business (accounting, finance, supply chain, management, and marketing) but it is only 30 credits and can be finished in up to one year. Our unique program provides strong business background to creatives and designers while providing industry relevant information to those who already have business degrees or are working in the field.

Our program is flexible and perfect for working professionals or full-time students. Courses are on weekends and evenings and can be completed in as little as two semesters or as long as four years.

This degree is the perfect investment in your future career in fashion. Students learn essential functions of business such as marketing, finance, supply chain, and management. This means that the skills you learn are not only applicable to fashion and beauty but also transferable across different industries and professions. The curriculum is advanced, rigorous, and relevant, which means that you stay competitive and on top of current trends.

Full-Time Students
As a full-time student, you have two options to complete your degree: Full-lockstep (two semesters), or Full-Flex (three semesters).

Part-Time Students
Part-time students are eligible to take a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 11 credits per semester. Part-time students can work at their own pace and around busy schedules taking advantage of classes offered on nights and weekends.

Test waivers are granted in exceptional cases only and are at the discretion of the director, based on a variety of factors such as, in part, relevant work experience (typically at least two years of applicable work experience in specific positions or very specific advanced terminal degrees). Appeals are not possible.

You can request a waiver in your online application--additional fields will appear once you check the waiver request checkbox, where you can submit a required cover letter stating the reasons for your waiver request, as well as your supporting materials (e.g., professional certificates, award certificates).

Forward all requests to the program director, Tavy Ronen, at for approval.
