Registration consists of the following steps:
- Course selection with the aid of faculty advisement or the schools' advising office staff.
- Course offerings can be found online: http://sis.rutgers.edu/soc/#home
- Entry of the selected courses via Rutgers web registration system (WebReg): https://webreg.rutgers.edu by students with system access, or the assistance of the registrar's office.
- Completion of RUHere confirmation of attendance process when attempting to access any online system that requires login with their Rutgers NetID. Failing to participate will result in classes and financial aid being canceled.
- Payment of the term bill (tuition and fees) for the approved program via https://finservices.rutgers.edu/otb/.
All students, by virtue of registering, agree to comply with the regulations of the university.
Registration for New Students
New student registration takes place in person at orientation and via an online appointment for those matriculating in an online program. Information about orientation will be sent by the program staff. If not received, students are responsible for obtaining this information.
Full-Time and Part-Time Students
For most purposes, a full-time student is defined as one who is registered for 12 or more credits. Anyone who registers for 11 or fewer credits is a part-time student. All courses, including courses of research and regular courses taken as "not for credit" (E and N prefixes), are counted in measuring the student's recordable program of work. These regulations govern tuition charges, student fees, statistical records, residency requirements, and other issues affected by definitions of full-time and part-time status.
Maximum Credit Restrictions
Part-time students may register for up to 11 credits and are encouraged to register for at least 6 credits per trimester. Full-time students may register for 12 to 16 credits per trimester. Maximum credit hour restrictions include E-level courses (noncredit courses).
Term bill payments are accepted in the form of electronic check, credit
card (online only), cash, money order, or paper check. Payments can be
made online, through the mail, or in person at a campus Cashiers' Office. Payments are not accepted via phone or fax. On-time payment of trimester bills prevents the cancellation of registration and the assessment of a late payment fee: https://studentabc.rutgers.edu/tuition-overview.
Transfer of Credit

By law, the university requires that all persons born after 1956 have immunization against certain diseases prior to enrollment. Every student should have received an immunization form; if not, be sure to bring with you proof (signed by a doctor) that you have received two doses against measles, mumps, and rubella. Exemptions can be made only for medical or religious reasons, upon written request. For more information, call 732-932-8429 or 973-353-5231.
