Rutgers Business School: Graduate Programs-Newark and New Brunswick 2020-2022 Degree Programs Dual-Degree Options Juris Doctor/Master of Business Administration

Juris Doctor/Master of Business Administration

Rutgers Business School and Rutgers Law School jointly offer the juris doctor (J.D.)/master of business administration (M.B.A.) dual-degree program at Rutgers University-Newark campus. The Rutgers J.D./M.B.A. program offers students legal and business perspectives in such fields as finance, corporate practice, taxation, international business, and other related fields.

Because each school within Rutgers recognizes up to 12 credits offered by the other, students are able to earn both a J.D. and an M.B.A. in just four years (if completed as a full time student)--one year less than it would take to earn them individually. Generally, dual-degree candidates take the required J.D. curriculum in the first academic year and the full-time M.B.A. core curriculum in the second academic year. During the third and fourth academic year, candidates take a combination of both disciplines.

Students pursuing these degrees part-time are also eligible to enroll and the part-time M.B.A. program will be reduced from 49 to 40 credits.

Students are required to meet the admissions requirements of both schools in order to be eligible for the program. Prospective applicants are encouraged to apply simultaneously and independently to both schools. Typically, the student will file an application with Rutgers Law School, take the Law School Admissions Test (LSAT), and present the report of undergraduate work provided by the Law School Data Assembly Service. Applicants will submit the separate, self-managed application to Rutgers Business School.

Students must apply and be admitted to both schools. Applications are available through the Rutgers Business School Office of Graduate Admissions and the Office of Admission, Rutgers Law School.
