Andrew Rothman


Associate dean for student affairs

Dean Rothman holds a B.A. from Yale University, an M.F.A. (sculpture) from the University of Pennsylvania, and a J.D. from Rutgers School of Law-Newark. Prior to attending law school, he served as assistant dean and instructor at Parsons School of Design. Following graduation from Rutgers Law School, he practiced law at Greenabum, Row, Smith, Ravin & Davis and thereafter at Goldstein Lite & DePalma, and at Goldstein Lem, L.L.C. At the Law School, Dean Rothman is primarily responsible for student affairs, providing counseling and academic advisement, and general oversight of all aspects of student life. He also teaches various upper-level courses including New Jersey practice, non-profit corporations, and professional responsibility, and has taught advanced contracts, appellate advocacy and evidence, and for several years taught in the Community Law Clinic.

Dean Rothman is also responsible for the development and management of the Rutgers Law Associates Fellowship Program, coordinating its educational component and serving as its Managing Attorney.

Dean Rothman serves on the New Jersey Supreme Court Civil Practice Committee. He is the author of Preparing Law School Graduates for Practice: A Blueprint for Professional Education Following the Medical Profession Example (51 Rutgers L.Rev. 875, 1999), and is coauthor of the annual practice guide and reference book, The Handbook of Civil Practice in the Courts of New Jersey.
