Professor Freund earned a B.A. from SUNY-Stony Brook, a J.D. from
Hofstra Law School, and an LL.M. from New York University School of Law.
Prior to joining Rutgers, she was a docket attorney with the Internal
Revenue Service, Office of Chief Counsel, in Manhattan. She has made
presentations on various federal tax issues to groups of tax accountants
and attorneys and has spoken on ethics in tax practice at the annual
American Bar Association/Low Income Taxpayer Clinic Conference. She works with networks of
local immigration attorneys to alert them to tax issues affecting
low-income immigrants. Professor Freund serves on a joint panel with the
Taxpayer Advocate for New Jersey, addressing how local tax
practitioners can effectively utilize the Office of the Taxpayer
Advocate.
