The
HIV care specialization program is 9 credits in
addition to the required number of credits for each specialty. Students
enrolled in the advanced practice nursing program who take the HIV care
specialization will have clinical placements that focus on HIV care. For
current advanced practice nurses who are seeking a specialty certificate,
clinical hours will be provided for students to gain hands-on knowledge through
a mini-residency program.
Graduates will be eligible to sit for nurse practitioner specialization
certification through national certifying bodies. Once nationally certified,
graduates will be eligible to sit for the advanced AIDS care registered nurse
certification exam.
