Students majoring in criminal justice must complete 39 credits of criminal justice and sociology courses with at least a C (2.0) grade-point average in the combined courses. Methods and Techniques of Social Research (50:920:301) should be taken in the junior year. Ethics and Policy in Criminal Justice (50:202:449) is the capstone course for criminal justice majors and is taken in the senior year. At least half of the credits for the major must be taken at Rutgers University Camden.

Students also must complete 12 credits of the 39 required for the major in any 300- or 400-level courses from the offerings in criminal justice and/or the below criminal justice-related courses offered in sociology or forensics science. Additional Sociology and Forensic Science courses may count with permission of the Department Chair. A maximum of 3 credits from 50:202:404 Service/Internship in Criminal Justice and 50:202:405/406 Criminal Investigation Practicum is allowed to count towards elective credit.
