Bachelor of Science in Accounting


The program in accounting provides students with a comprehensive foundation in the theory of accounting, financial accounting and reporting, managerial and cost accounting, taxation, concepts of auditing, and business law. It is built on a broad background in humanities, liberal arts, economics, and business administration. The accounting program gives students the foundation and skills to pursue careers with public accounting firms, corporations, government, and nonprofit organizations. The program provides the background to sit for the Certified Public Accountant (C.P.A.), Certified Management Accountant (C.M.A.), and Certified Internal Auditor (C.I.A.) examinations. Graduates of this program can also pursue further graduate or professional education.

Major Specific Elective Requirements

Accounting Elective: Students are required to complete 3 credits from the offerings of School 52, subject courses at or above the 300 level.

Approved Electives: Students are required to complete 6 credits in RSBC (school 52) courses at or above the 300 level.

Accounting Internship (52:010:497) or Accounting Cooperative (52:010:498) course may be applied to meet this requirement.


These courses may be from any of the disciplines listed: Accounting (010), Business Administration (135), Finance (390), Human Resource Management (533), Management (620), Ecommerce and Information Technology (623), or Marketing (630) AND must be at or above the 300-level with the exception of Business Law II: Uniform Commercial Code (52:140:102).


No more than 6 credits of experiential learning (XPL) coursework may be applied toward major requirements.

International Business Elective: Students are required to complete 3 credits in a course from the list below:
