Addiction Counselor Training (ACT) Certificate Program Courses

19:910:510 Gambling Counseling and Special Topics (3) Gambling Counseling and Special Topics provides the 30 hours in-person training required to receive the International Certified Gambling Counselor-I (ICGC-I) certification. Formerly Biology of Addictive Behaviors.
19:910:514 Understanding Addictive Behaviors (formerly HBSE: Understanding Addictive Behaviors) (3) Examines psychosocial development through the life course, highlighting the factors influencing the ways in which individuals develop and recover from addictive behavior. Prerequisites: 19:910:502, 500, and 508.
19:910:522 Clinical Social Work: Addictive Behaviors I (3) Covers the alliance, assessment, and diagnosis of substance-use disorders and co-occurring disorders. Pre- or corequisites: 19:910:514 and 510.
19:910:597 Clinical Social Work: Addictive Behaviors II (3) Prepares clinicians in the use of theoretically driven, evidence-based treatments in multiple modalities. Prerequisite: 19:910:522.
19:910:598 Case Management in Addictions Practice (3) Covers making connections with the context of clients' lives. Prerequisite: 19:910:522.
19:910:599 Professional Development and Responsibility in Addictions Practice (3) Prepares students for ethical practice, use of supervision, professional obligations, testing, and job-seeking. Prerequisite: 19:910:522.
