Policy Prohibiting Discrimination and Harassment

Rutgers University policy prohibits discrimination and harassment based upon race, religion, color, national origin, ancestry, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, disability, genetic information, atypical hereditary cellular or blood trait, marital status, civil union status, domestic partnership status, military service, veteran status, and any other category protected by law. Discrimination and harassment compromise the integrity of the university and unfairly interfere with the opportunity for all persons to fully participate in the academic, work, and living environment of the university.

The Rutgers University Policy Prohibiting Discrimination and Harassment can be viewed at http://policies.rutgers.edu/PDF/Section60/60.1.12-current.pdf.

Complaints of harassment or discrimination regarding educational programs or activities, including complaints against students arising out of their conduct as students, should be made to Jackie Moran, Office of Student Affairs (732-932-1084, ext. 10 or moran@oldqueens.rutgers.edu).  Complaints of discrimination or harassment against employees or student employees should be made to Jayne M. Grandes, Director, Office of Employment Equity (732-932-3020, ext. 4030 or grandes@hr.rutgers.edu).

Discrimination and Title IX Compliance

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal law prohibiting discrimination based on sex in education programs and activities that receive federal financial assistance. Title IX covers all programs of a college or school that receives federal financial assistance for academics, extracurricular activities, and athletics. Students with Title IX inquiries related to intercollegiate athletics should contact Kathleen Hickey, Associate Director of Athletics for Student Services and Compliance (732-445-7899 or khickey@scarletknights.com). Student inquiries concerning Title IX compliance not associated with intercollegiate athletics should be directed to Jackie Moran, Office of Student Affairs (732-932-1084, ext. 10 or moran@oldqueens.rutgers.edu). Employees with Title IX questions should contact Jayne M. Grandes, Director, Office of Employment Equity (732-932-3020, ext. 4030 or grandes@hr.rutgers.edu).
