Intrainstitutional Registration

Graduate Courses

Students in the School of Criminal Justice may take courses offered by another graduate division of the university by consulting with the graduate program director or the associate dean of academic and student services. Students may register for the course via the online registration process. Once the graduate program director or the associate dean of academic and student services authorizes the intrainstitutional graduate course, no additional permission is required by the Graduate School-Newark.

Undergraduate Courses

Graduate students may enroll in advanced undergraduate courses (at the 300 and 400 levels) with the approval of the graduate program director or the associate dean of academic and student services. This may be a regular part of the graduate program or a means to remedy a deficiency in the preparation for graduate work.

Courses numbered 500 or above are designed for graduate students and usually carry credit toward a graduate degree. When a student is either permitted or required to take a course numbered below 500, a written registration form and the permanent record as follows:

E  The undergraduate course is excluded from credit in the graduate program.

G  The undergraduate course has been approved for graduate credit.

No more than 6 credits numbered below 500 may be used in fulfillment of the requirements for an advanced degree.
