Qualifying
for Advanced Standing/Transfer Credits
The master of
business administration (M.B.A.) degree normally requires a minimum of 60
credits. However, students may receive advanced standing for prior academic
work or through challenge exams. To be considered for advanced standing,
students must submit an advanced standing application by the end of their first
semester of enrollment. Courses submitted for evaluation must be a grade of B
or better and cannot exceed five years from the time of initial enrollment. A
student may receive a maximum of 12 credits of advanced standing (10 credits toward
the core and 2 credits toward the foundation). Advanced standing includes the
total of graduate transfer credits (AACSB-accredited M.B.A. programs and
nonconferred degrees), challenge exams, undergraduate course recognition
credits, and CPA licensing credits; no credits are awarded for Ph.D. All
students are required to complete a minimum of 48 credits in residence at
Rutgers Business School-Newark and New Brunswick (RBS).
Transfer of M.B.A. Credits
Students may receive
up to a maximum of 12 credits of graduate coursework completed with a B or
better if they received such credit as an M.B.A. degree candidate (and did not
complete the degree) at an
AACSB-accredited institution. Please note: No advanced credit can be awarded for any
course taken more than five years before the time of initial enrollment to the
M.B.A. program.
