M.B.A. Advanced Standing

Qualifying for Advanced Standing/Transfer Credits

The master of business administration (M.B.A.) degree normally requires a minimum of 60 credits. In rare cases advanced standing or transfer credits may be awarded to full-time M.B.A. students. All requests for advanced standing by full-time M.B.A. students must be made by the end of the first semester of the program. All requests for transfer credit must be approved prior to beginning graduate work at an outside institution.

Students may receive up to a maximum of 6 credits of graduate coursework completed with a B or better if they received such credit as an M.B.A. degree candidate (and did not complete the degree) at an AACSB-accredited institution. Please note: No credit can be awarded for any course taken more than five years before the time of initial enrollment in the Rutgers M.B.A. program.

To apply for advanced standing or transfer credit, please contact the Graduate Admissions office at 973-353-1234.

CPA License

A student who is a CPA may receive 3 credits for the core accounting course. To receive credit, please fax a copy of your CPA license to the Rutgers Business School (RBS) Office of Graduate Admissions at 973-353-1592. Include your RBS student ID number at the top of your license.
